OLD BUSINESS
Health Plan
As

Elections
Although there was a minor glitch with the P.O. Box, the
JOEs are in place and moving ahead. The Nominations Meeting
has been changed to the 19th of August to allow
any nominations that were sent to the incorrect address to
be re-mailed. Any member who incurred additional costs may
submit for reimbursement by sending a voucher and supporting
documentation to the Local.
Susan G. Komen Race for the
Cure - Team Mail Handler
We had a great team this year
and Union T-shirts with the Breast Cancer Ribbon. 7 of us
walked together and our entire team was about 11 strong.
Thanks to both Don Sneesby and Debbie Retter who put it all
together.
First Annual Local Picnic
The Picnic was a great
success. We had an excellent turn out and lots of fun. Bob
Losi our National Assistant Legislative Director was in
attendance and gave a small speech about the importance of
the PAC. The picnic was scheduled at Angle Lake Park in the
city of SeaTac Wa.
NEW BUSINESS
Union Officials' Travels
Local President Pat McClear
travelled to Everett, Tacoma, and Vancouver in addition to
Attending the LIUNA Northwest
Conference in late June with Vice President Don Sneesby.
New Mileage Rate
The new mileage rate of .585
(put out by the IRS) now applies to Union travel for our
Local.
New Vouchers
The Union has adopted a new
voucher format. This form is available from the Local in
both hard copy and computer format. You should also be able
to obtain the new format from any Union Representative.
Fraud Policy
It has been suggested that we
implement a written anti-fraud policy (to include a better
policy for receipting money). Don will now be in charge of
receipting money. Irene will draft the Anti-Fraud Policy.
Per Diem
Irene motioned that the
following be added to our Bylaws:
Article 3 Section 3
Business Expenses for out
of town/overnight union business will be paid for IAW the
current Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Travel,
Entertainment, and Gift Expenses Publication 463. In
addition to the Meals and Incidental Expenses (M & IE Rate)
as defined in Publication 463, Per Diem allowances shall
also include tips for waiters and exclude parking fees, bus
fares, toll charges, and car rentals.
Monica Seconded the Motion.
The Motion passed unanimously.
Charitable Donations
Donations were made as
follows: $250 to Juvenile Diabetes, and $500 to the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Fund. A reminder the Combined Federal
Campaign is right around the corner. Local 316
wholeheartedly supports the CFC.
Installation Ceremony
We have reserved a Room at
the Red Lion on October 4th 2008 for the
Installation Ceremony. We have also selected the menu. All
union members are invited. President John Hegarty and Mark
Gardner National Secretary will be attending the
Installation of Officers.
This and That
We will be including Voter
Registrations in the Fall News letter for our Washington
Members. Please VOTE.
Treasurer’s Report
We have removed Bill Dove and
authorized Irene Lowery to be a signer on our Community 1st
Credit Union Accounts. We should be receiving some of our
Picnic expenditures back from the Local Recreation
Committee. Irene submitted the Treasurer’s Report. The
report is available for members in the Northwest Passages,
at Branch Meetings and online. Don Sneesby, Monica Taylor
and Leonard Ebio reviewed the vouchers. After the voucher
review Don made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report.
Leo seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
